Mindfulness sparks changes in the brain relating to less reactivity and the ability to have mental clarity in times of BIG emotions and stressful situations (Roemer, et al., 2015).
Children who practice mindfulness are more likely to partake in activities that help others and show love and kindness towards someone in need (Condon, et al., 2013).
Many studies show an increase in focus and attention after mindfulness practices, including extended attention span during rigorous tasks and improved performance on objective tasks (Chiesa, et al., 2009).
Research shows that mindfulness practices help to reduce stress and anxiety, while increasing gratitude and compassion (Anila, et. al., 2016).
Mindfulness alters the structure and function of the brain, increasing grey matter density, neurogenesis, and neural connectivity, to improve the quality of both thought and feeling. (Keng et al., 2011).
Studies found that mindfulness practices increase perspective taking skills, empathy, kindness, and problem solving-all important for healthy relationships (Bergstrom, 2019).
